Whistling Joe...no pressure then!

Rome for the second time and Joe Fagan is the manager, this time the atmosphere
is electric...
Liverpool in Roma's backyard the fans were screaming. Joe stood there at the dugout and he was whistling as if he was in the back garden,"Nice night isn't it lad"as he winked to me...he left the Olympic Stadium with the European Cup and I left with a sore head after a bottle bounced off my brow from an angry Italian.
Tommy Smith and the special smile.

Tommy Smith had headed the golden goal of his career in Rome and at the end of the game I was determined to take the ultimate pic of Tommy, but he ran the full length of the pitch to trainer Ronnie Moran...
I followed and placed myself to capture this picture, breathless later I asked Tommy why he had run from the celebrations to Ronnie,"He kept my front teeth in his pocket for me and I didn't want to be photographed without them"....... sorry Tommy.
Where is the cup?
Holiday Inn hotel London and Liverpool had won the cup again at Wembley beating Bruges 1-0 Dalglish the scorer.
The celebrations had gone on through the night, next morning I was in a hurry for a page one pic for the Echo...but where was the cup?!!!
The receptionist didn't know, the manager of the hotel had no idea, the security were looking worried, I looked in the reception suite and then someone suggested Kenny had it last.
A gentle knock on his bedroom door and there was the cup on the pillow in Kenny's bed.
I left the room with the cup and on the trail of Alan Hansen...

I found Alan Hansen about to have a morning bath and persuaded him to take the cup with him for a picture, it made a great pic and I was ready to rush to the wire to send my pix to Liverpool..one problem I still had the European Cup in my hand...
Who should I give it to? I eventually persuaded the hotel staff to put it in the safe.
